This has to be one of my favourite sayings: Don't believe everything you think. I use it as a reminder to get out of my head and stop over thinking and to just go with the flow of life.
Our minds are great when we take control but it can also be our worst enemy if left to take over. In this life we have no control over most things but we do have control over what we think and how we respond. Just because we have a thought and it produces an emotion response does not mean it has a real basis. For example: you have a dream about your partner and they are unfaithful. You wake up and are angry at them. You know it was a dream but you still feel angry. Everyday thoughts are the same, a thought can come that makes you feel bad, but take the time to ask yourself is this really happening to me and is it real.
Thoughts become real when we interact with them and give them substance. We can torture ourselves by over thinking and making an issue out something that is not real. Let thoughts pass like a computer screen saver, the thoughts are there but you don't have to interact with every single on of them.
This is your life and you have the choice to live peacefully or to torment yourself. what do you choose for you.
Things to help you get out of your head.
1.Get outside:
Go for a walk, sit in the garden, run, spend time in nature
2. Do something you like
Read, bake, find a hobby
3. Laugh
4. Spend time with positive people
5. Exercise
6. Read affirmations
7. Meditate
8. Do an act of kindness
9. Be grateful
10.Tell somebody you love them
Enjoy this life it is far too short.
Blessings to you all. Karen
